- WhatsApp adds disappearing photos/videos feature for Beta testers
- WhatsApp calls this feature “view once”
- The iOS beta testers might get the feature soon
Facebook-owned WhatsApp recently released a self-destructive photo and video feature similar to its rival Snapchat, WhatsApp calls this feature “view once” Photos and videos sent using this mode disappear automatically after the receivers have seen it.
This feature was found in BETA version of WhatsApp for Android, View once feature for photos/videos is now rolling out only for Android BETA users. iOS BETA users might get the feature soon.
Once the user opens the photo or video, WhatsApp will automatically delete it. View once applies to personal chats and group chats. If you enable notifications, you will receive notifications when the recipient accesses the media.
What’s interesting is that even if the recipient’s application does not support this feature, this feature can work, and the message will disappear after the first viewing.
Recipient won’t be able to export or save self-destruct photos from WhatsApp, user won’t get an option to save the disappearing photo in their phone’s gallery or forward them to other contacts.
But still recipient will be able to save videos or photos by taking screenshots or taking photos of their phones, WhatsApp does not currently support screenshot protection or screen recording like Facebook & instagram.
